| I should really get working on those figures, but since my boss is still away in Korea, a break wouldn't hurt. So my friends tell me it's hot in TO, so I checked out the weather 2 Canada.com. And fair enough, it is quite hot, a whole 30 degrees. Seems the most popular MSN screen names these days are things like "Damn it's so hot" or "It's hot in here" or something of the sort. My boyfriend's not made in to be in the heat so he's complaining too, which only induces me to retort! "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HOT IS UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN TO HONG KONG" or anywhere else this close to the equator (or closer) at this time of the yr. as i was packing the day b4 I left, i thought to myself....."hmmm, guess it might still be chilly at nite so I better bring a couple of coats" of course since I'm a girl, I had to bring enough to complete each outfit if I had to go out in a jacket. But DAMN!!! I brought two suitcases worth of suits and shoes for work for two months, in addition to casual clothes thinking i'll need it all. And what am I doing now? I just finished packing a box last nite to send back to Canada b/c i had to buy more clothes. Summer work clothes that I won't suffocate in while I'm here in this stifling weather, and I now I have so much stuff that' I'm paying money to send things back. All so they won't tax my chinese butt when I come home next month!!!
For those who think it's hot in TO, word of advice: don't complain to me about your 30 degree weather with humidity that doesn't compare to what we have here. It's never under 30 degrees in HK even at midnite and it's always over thirty even at 8 in the morning with 80 to 90% humidity and it's only June, it's three times as bad in July and august when it can reach 35 to 40degrees plus humidity! We carry around umbrellas even now, not b/c it's going ot rain but b/c we need shade from the sun when we walk home from public transport. I walk everyday in business attire, heels, a purse, a briefcase and holding an unbrella when I'm able to, for 20 mins from the subway. This of course does not include my time shopping on the streets also walking in the sun, you can only imagine how I feel like the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz melting away! not many ppl have cars here so everyone takes public transport. With no space and 6 million ppl living in HK, which is not even close to half the size of TO, I'm squishing with ppl left right and center, shoulder to shoulder, so you can imagine how stinky it is because antiperspirant and deodorant is not that popular here. and you, my dears back home, 90% of you have cars or are able to get a ride, so pls don't complain. i feel for you i really do, but we've all been asking for good, hot, tanning and beach weather in TO, so QUIT COMPLAINING AND ENJOY IT!!! |
